I’m so glad you shared your own illness journey with me long before I knew I would have to endure my own. You showed me a kind of strength that I will never forget.

"Are you sinking or simply being pressed to where you began?" This stopped me in my tracks @Mel Williams. I am in awe with the way in which you can do exactly that - literally make the world stop spinning with a turn of phrase. You are an incredible writer. Thank you for reminding us that we are enough. It is easy to forget.

Thank you MA. I think the same of you. Sometimes I can’t keep up with the spinning world. My mind wants to but my body refuses.

A beautiful expression of how dealing with loss through immersing oneself into beauty of nature can help bring important elements like joy and peace back into our lives.

Put your dictionary beside you, Mel - these eloquent Brits use words we’ve never heard before to describe our physical world!

Yes--and yes again, Mel. It's funny that our 'losses' begin when we leave the birth canal, the fluid, and that sac. Something to ponder. You haven't smelled the moss deep enough yet, friend, until you read Robert Macfarlane. Start with 'Landmarks.' Then go to Roger Deakin's 'Wildwood.' These writers pull you in by the nose and the gut and hold you until you snap the page shut. They re-introduce you to the gaia you celebrate so lovingly with this piece, Mel.

Thank you so much Karen for these recommendations. I am doing the Google search and adding them to

whatever bookstore cart I find them in!
